Where does my money go?

Your purchase will offset the electricity required to use and charge your cell phone with clean, renewable energy credits (RECs) from Green Mountain Energy Company, which is the longest serving cleaner, electricity provider in the United States.
1. Integrity: Product integrity is our number one priority. Our carbon offsets products come from the highest quality projects. We strive to provide our customers with a diverse portfolio of resources at cost effective prices. When you calculate and purchase carbon offsets, your purchase is used in one of three ways:
Buying renewable energy credits (RECs) from solar, wind and biomass facilities around the country - many of them created as awindmill result of our customer demand. Funding reforestation projects through our partnership with organizations like the Arbor Day Foundation, American Forests, and the Pacific Forest Trust. TOUR the Van Eck Forest Project and hear PFT President Laurie Wayburn describe its climate benefits. Supporting other carbon offset projects - for example, methane capture and grassland restoration projects certified by the Voluntary Carbon Standard.
2. Verifiability: We know that our customers want to be certain that their dollars are going to investments in high quality carbon offset projects. To address this, we have an independent auditing firm review all of our purchases and sales every year. This ensures that, dollar-for-dollar, our customer purchases match up with our purchases of high quality carbon offsets. 3. Accuracy: The methodology used in our online calculator follows the EPA Climate Leaders methodology which is in turn based on the WRI GHG Protocol. Our calculator has been verified and approved by a third party industry accepted organization. 4. Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continually improving the way that we do business and interacting with our customers.
